MAGNETOSPHERIC CONSTELLATION SCIENCE OBJECTIVES

1. Define and characterize the magnetotail's dynamics.
2. Determine its response to external and internal drivers.
3. Map the coupling between local and global processes.

MEASUREMENT STRATEGY

• Resolve space/time ambiguities that conceal the governing physical processes.
• Systematic 2D vector imaging of magnetic field, bulk plasma flow & energetic particle parameters.
• Spacecraft deployed with optimal spatial distribution.
• Prime mission conducted while in magnetotail; secondary but important science on flanks and dayside.
